[ed] [cul] [top] @h= Cineastes to make Iranian version of “Top Gear” @b= Tehran Times Art Desk @t= TEHRAN -- Iranian cineaste Sam Kalantari and Saman Moqaddam have made a TV program resembling “Top Gear”, the BBC TV program about cars and driving. Kalantari is the director and Moqaddam is the producer of the program entitled “Garage 888”, which will be distributed on the home video network, the producers announced in a press release on Monday. The first season composed of ten episodes has been completed in Dubai with cars from supercar manufacturers, including Lamborghini and Alfa Romeo. They hired movie stars, including Mostafa Zamani, Roya Nonahali, Reza Naji, Shaqayeq Dehqan, Farhad Aiish, Roya Teimurian and Masud Rayegan, to test the cars. Actor Ali Qorbanzadeh also collaborated with the project as a host. The second season of the program, which has been produced in collaboration with British studio Tangerine Films, will be shot in Iran, Serbia and Germany during May. The project is also financed by Nima and Niusha Tabibi, Dubai-based Iranian luxury car collectors.
